DETROIT (5/6/22) - Senior
Piper Roth hit a combined 3-for-7 with a clutch two-run double while senior
McKenna Tanguay reached base four times going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of walks to help lead Detroit Mercy to a 4-3 win game one of a doubleheader against visiting Cleveland State. Graduate student
Liz Murphy picked up her fourth win in the circle posting four strikeouts while tossing her 20th complete game of season.
Freshman
Jaiden Lara hit a two-run homer for her third of the season while senior
Taryn Peru belted her team second-best four home run of the season as the Titans came up short in the nightcap, 5-4. Graduate student
Leena Mortensen also added an RBI double.
The Titans racked up nine hits total in the game one win as Peru went 2-for-3 with an RBI (3-for-6, two RBI on the day) while senior

Jordyn Chapman and junior
Jordan Hazel each recorded a hit. Paver and Chapman each posted a hit in game two as well.
Game 1:
• CSU (21-22, 17-8 HL) got a run in the first inning off an RBI single, Peru's RBI single to plate Tanguay in the bottom half drew Detroit Mercy's (6-35, 6-20 HL) even at 1-1
• The Vikings hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to regain the lead
• With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, Roth delivered the big game-winning hit with a double that scored Hazel and pinch-runner
Kara Erickson. Tanguay was also able to score on a throwing error during the play giving the Titans a 4-3 lead
• Murphy kept the Vikings off the board in the fifth and sixth innings
• In the to of the seventh, CSU got runners on second and third but Murphy was able to the last two batters out as Peru made a diving catch in foul territory for the second out and final batter flew out to Paver in center field to end the game
Game 2:
• Mortensen's RBI double scored Roth giving the Titans a 1-0 lead in the first inning
• The Vikings moved ahead via the long ball with a pair of two-run homers in the second and third innings to take 4-2 lead
• Detroit Mercy returned the favor with a pair of home runs of their own. Peru's solo shot came in the fourth inning while Lara's two-run bomb tied the game at 4-4 in the to of the sixth
• CSU got the bases loaded in the top of the seventh and scored a run off an RBI single.

Olivia Warrington, who came into the game as relief of freshman
Chloe Spitzer in the third, was able to get out of the jam with the Titans trailing by a run at 5-4. However, the Titans could not get anything going in the bottom half with all three batters being retired in order to end the game.
Detroit Mercy will close the regular season in the home finale on Senior Day Saturday, May 7 beginning at 1 p.m. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m.
