DETROIT (5/9/22) -- Following the conclusion of the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships,
Daniel Lanfear and
Elijah Major will continue their push for a spot in the NCAA Division I Preliminary Rounds May 26-28.
Lanfear will participate in the High Jump at the Grand Valley State University Last Chance Meet on May 10. Lanfear hit a personal record jump of 2.08 meters at the Concordia Legacy Invitational the week prior to the Horizon League Championships. He also hit a 2.05 meter mark twice during the outdoor season. Lanfear cleared a 2.01 meter jump for third at the Horizon League Championships this past weekend. According to Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Guy Murray '89, Lanfear currently ranks 46th in the region in High Jump and would likely need a clearance of 2.10 meters at Grand Valley State to ensure a spot in the NCAA Preliminary rounds.
Major will head down to his home state of Florida for the Pure Athletics Sprint Elite Meet at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida on May 15. Major is coming off an indoor season in which he was named the Men's Rookie Runner of the Year at the Horizon League Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Major set personal records in the 100-Meter and 200-Meter during the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, running times of 10.57 and 21.87 seconds respectively. His time in the 200-Meter scored third at the championships while scoring seventh in the 100-Meter.
