Three Titans Score, Two Advance & And One Within Striking Distance Of Gold After Day One Of #HLTF Championships

Graduate senior Luke Adamczyk tallied two points taking seventh in the javelin.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (5/8/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team had a good start to the postseason as day one of the Horizon League Championships concluded on Friday.

UDM scored four points in two events and is tied for sixth place at the league meet, hosted by Oakland.

Graduate senior Luke Adamczyk and senior Anthony Yip both scored in the javelin, with Adamczyk seventh at 45.45 meters and Yip eighth with a throw of 41.36m.

Junior Christopher Russelburg also earned points, placing eighth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:09.62.

Senior Joshua Otten and freshman Colin Murray both qualified for the championship 1,500m. Otten was seventh in the preliminaries, clocking 3:52.20, and Murray was eighth in a season-best 3:53.76.

In the decathlon, freshman Weston Glei is just 49 points shy of first, standing fourth with 3,338 points. His performance on the day saw him win the high jump with a season-best 1.91m. He was also third in the 400m with a time of 52.18.

Junior Joshua Neary is right behind him in fifth place at 3,112 points, with his best effort taking fourth in the shot put with a career-high heave of 10.95m.

The second day of the championships is set to start with the multi-events at 9:00 a.m.
