Alison Donaugh hit her first collegiate home run going 1-for-2 at the plate while senior
Renee Trotman and sophomore
Jaiden Lara each recorded a hit as Detroit Mercy fell 9-1 in the series opener at Campbell on Friday afternoon at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Recap:
• Campbell (14-8) used small-ball effectively to get runners moving on the bases which led to four runs (3 unearned) on three hits, aided by two errors from Detroit Mercy (1-12), to take an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
• Donaugh reached on an error followed by a base hit from Trotman to get runners on first and second base in the top of the second inning. However, the Titans could not push a run across.
• Junior
Maddy Heilner made a nice catch in left field stranding two runners after the Fighting Camels added a pair of runs to take a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
• Campbell took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third off an RBI double.
• Donaugh's home run put the Titans on the board in the top of the fourth inning to trail 7-1.
• The Camels added another pair of runs in the bottom of the four and then held the Titans off the board in the top of the fifth inning to seal the 9-1 win.
Detroit Mercy concludes the series with a doubleheader on Sat., March 11 at noon and 2 p.m.
