Rusti Glenn belted her first career home going 2-for-3 with an RBI run while senior
Olivia Warrington tossed a complete game shutout lifting Detroit Mercy to a 2-0 win in game two to earn a doubleheader split after falling 7-0 at Robert Morris in #HLSB opening action on Thursday afternoon.
Warrington only gave up three scattered hits with three strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work. Glenn also hit 2-for-2 in game one to go 4-for-5 on the day while freshman
Jenna Holt went 3-for-4 overall going 2-for-3 with a walk in game two and 1-for-1 in game one.
Senior
Allison Smith also went 1-for-2 with a run scored and walk in the nightcap. Sophomore
Jaiden Lara recorded a hit in game one.
Game 2 Recap:
• Warrington and RMU's Madison DeVault didn't allow a hit over the first two innings of the game.
• Smith reached on a fielder's choice followed by Holt who recorded the first hit of the game but RMU was able to get out of the jam keeping the game scoreless in the top of the third.
• In the bottom half of the third, RMU (9-11, 1-1 HL) posted their first hit getting followed by a walk to get runners on first and second base but Warrington kept them stranded.
• Glenn's home run gave the Titans (2-15, 1-1 HL) a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. After Smith walked, Holt singled to the pitcher followed by a walk from Senior
Kara Wolfbauer to load the bases. Smith then scored off a wild pitch to move the Titans ahead 2-0.
• Warrington closed the door on the Colonials allowing only one hit over the last three innings.
Game 1 Recap:
• RMU got on the board first with an RBI single in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead
• The Colonials added a pair of two-run doubles to move ahead 5-0 in the second
• Detroit Mercy got their first hit of the game off a single from Glenn in the top of the third inning.
• The Titans got runners in scoring position in the top of the sixth off singles from Holt and Glenn but did not get anything across.
• RMU plated two more runs in the bottom half of the sixth to move ahead 7-0.
• Lara got a single in the top of the seventh but was doubled off a line drive to second base in the top of the seventh inning.
Detroit Mercy and RMU will play the series finale on St. Patrick's Day Friday, Mar. 17 at 1 p.m.
