INDIANAPOLIS (3/27/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy men's golf junior
Ryan Sangchompuphen tallied a career low as the Titans played the first two rounds of Butler's Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational on Monday.
Detroit Mercy shot under 300 in both rounds and is in 11th with a 591 (296-295) at the par 70, 6,551-yard Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Junior
Alek Mauro leads the team and is 31st with a 143 (70-73). He started the day with an even-par 70 as he had 14 pars and two birdies and then added 13 pars and a birdie in the afternoon.
Sangchompuphen had 11 pars and a birdie in his opening 5-over 75, but then posted a career-low even-par 70 in the second round as he stands tied for 46th with a 145 (75-70). He knocked in 12 pars and three birdies en route to his career-best.
Junior
Matthew Schultz is tied for 71st with a 152 (77-75). He had four birdies on the day - three in the second round - to go with 19 pars. Freshman
Vincent Levesque is just behind him with a 153 (75-78) as he posted 23 pars and a birdie and freshman
Austin Brancaccio shares 82nd with a 155 (76-79) with four birdies and 16 pars.
The Titans will tee off the final round of the event tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
