Jaiden Lara went 1-for-3 hitting her team-leading third home run of the season while freshman
Trinity Fessler added an RBI single also going 1-for-3 as Detroit Mercy came up short falling 5-2 in the series opener at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday afternoon.
Junior
Maddy Heilner added a pinch-hit single in the seventh inning to load the bases and set up Fessler's RBI. Senior
Olivia Warrington went the distance with four strikeouts in the circle.

• PFW (8-18, 1-2 HL) got the board first with a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
• The Dons added an RBI double in the second inning to move ahead 3-0.
• Smith recorded the Titans' first hit of the game with a single in the fifth inning.
• Lara connected on her home run in the sixth inning to put Detroit Mercy (3-18, 2-4 HL) on the board to trail 3-1.

Alison Donaugh walked in the top of the seventh inning, Heilner's single loaded the bases. Fessler then drove in Holt pulling the Titans within three runs at 5-2 but they were unable to inch any closer.
Detroit Mercy concludes the series at PFW with a doubleheader on Sunday, Apr. 2 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
