HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (4/25/2022) -- Sophomore Ariel Chang closed out the Horizon League Golf Championships by making a run at the top five as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team concluded its season on Tuesday.

Chang carded a three-over 75 on the final 18 and tied for sixth with a 229 (78-76-75), just one shot outside of All-Tournament honors. She had 12 pars, a birdie and also eagled the par 5, fifth hole. She topped the team with 32 pars and four birdies and her two eagles overall were tied for the most in the field. Chang also led the competition with a -5, 4.58 mark on the par 5's and was tied for third a +1, 3.08 mark on the par 3's. 

It was her sixth top-10 finish on the year and her 10th in 13 career events. She also broke the school record for a single-season average as her mark of 76.05 edged current assistant coach Lindsey Lammers' 14 tally of 76.3 in 2013-14. 

Freshman Taylor Kondel shot a season-best five-over 77 and was 27th with a season-low 244 (81-86-77). She recorded 10 pars and two birdies in her last round. Her 27 pars and three birdies were the second most on the team. 

Junior Sophia Ubaydi senior Sydney Bradford tied for 35th with a 257, while senior Shae Zydeck ended her career in 40th place, playing two rounds and registering a 167 (84-83). Ubaydi had eight pars and a birdie and Bradford knocked in nine pars in the final round and Zydeck totaled eight pars. 

The Titans shot their best round of the tournament with a 316 and ended eighth with a 980 (333-331-316) total at the par-72, 5,960-yard Las Colinas course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
