INDIANAPOLIS (4/28/2023) -- Off her record-breaking year, University of Detroit Mercy women's golf sophomore
Ariel Chang earned her first conference honor as she was tabbed First Team All-Horizon League on Friday.
She is the first Titan underclassman to earn All-League honors since Sarah Thompson was selected as a sophomore in 2015.
Chang broke the school record with a 76.05 average, carding rounds in the 70's in 19 of her 20 rounds, with two at par or better. She started all nine events and recorded six top-10 finishes, including tying for sixth at the Horizon League Championships with a 229 (78-76-75), just one shot outside of All-Tournament honors.
She started the season with a 36-hole best 144 (70-74), sharing second at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. Chang also tied for first with a 157 (78-79) at the Black Falcon Invitational and placed fourth with a 148 (75-73) at the UIC Invitational.
Through two seasons, she has a 75.41 average and has 10 top-10 efforts and 11 top-20 finishes in 13 career events.
