Alison Donaugh went 1-for-3 with a double while senior
Kara Wolfbauer went 1-for-2 accounting for both of Detroit Mercy's hits as the Titans fell 3-0 in the series opener at Cleveland State on Good Friday afternoon.
Senior
Olivia Warrington went the distance in the circle tossing 6.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Recap:
• CSU (7-23, 3-3 HL) got on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
• Donaugh led off the top of the second inning for Detroit Mercy (3-22, 2-8 HL) with a double and was moved over to third with a sacrifice bunt. She was then thrown out at home off a ball hit to the pitcher.
• The Vikings added another run off an RBI single up the middle and plated another off a passed ball to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
• Wolfbauer recorded the Titans' second hit with a single in the top of the sixth inning.
• The Titans' offense struggled to get to CSU pitcher Melissa Holzopfel who tossed a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts.
Detroit Mercy concludes the series with a doubleheader at Cleveland State on Saturday, Apr. 8 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
