CLEVELAND (4-8-23) - Freshman
Jenna Holt had a solid day at the plate going 3-for-6 overall including hitting her first career triple as Detroit Mercy fell 12-0 and 3-0 in #HLSB doubleheader action at Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon.

Trinity Fessler and sophomore
Jaiden Lara also each recorded a hit in the first game. Holt hit a double which was the Titans' only hit in the second game.
Also in the nightcap, senior
Olivia Warrington went the distance once again in the circle tossing 6.0 innings with a strikeout.
Game 1 Recap:
• Detroit Mercy (3-23, 2-9 HL) had a chance to put runs on the board in the first inning as Holt led off the game with a triple. After Fessler was thrown out at first, freshman
Alison Donaugh walked and moved to second off a wild pitch.
Rusti Glenn then drew a walk to load the bases with two outs but the last batter flew out to lead the bases juiced.
• CSU (9-23, 5-3 HL) took a 1-0 lead of a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the first.
• The Vikings broke the game open in the second inning with six runs off five hits including an RBI double to take a 7-0 advantage.
• The Vikings plated five more runs in the bottom of the third inning off a two-run triple and double and an RBI double to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
• The Titans got runners on first and second in the top of the fourth inning off a single from Lara followed by senior
Kara Wolfbauer being hit by a pitch with two outs but they could not scratch across a run.
• Holt posted her second hit of the game with a single to lead off the fifth and was moved to third off a single by Fessler with two outs but the Titans were unable to score to extend the game.
• For the game, the Titans left six runners on base
Game 2 Recap:
• For the second straight game, Holt led off the game with an extra basehit posting a double. She advanced to third base off a sacrifice bunt but was left stranded.
• CSU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off an RBI single
• The Vikings added a two-run single to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
• After Holt's double to lead off the game, CSU pitcher Melissa Holzopfel retired the next 21 Detroit Mercy batters in a row while recording 13 strikeouts to pick up the win.
Detroit Mercy will host arch-rival Oakland for a Metro Series showdown beginning with a single game on Tuesday, April 11 at 3 p.m.
