Former Titan Chuck Batcheller '87 Returns As Assistant Golf Coach

DETROIT (9/5/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy Director Of Golf Jordan McArleton has announced a former Titan to his staff as Chuck Batcheller '87 will be the new Assistant Director of Golf. In this role, he will assist with both the men's and women's programs.

"We are thrilled to have coach Batcheller back with the program," said coach McArleton. "It is great to have alums come back and share their expertise and coach with us. He had a great run at Cranbrook-Kingswood, and I really believe he can help take us to the next level."

Batcheller played for Detroit Mercy from 1983-1987, and that was after a great prep career that saw him earn All-Catholic and All-League at U of D Jesuit.

After college, he continued to play and was a Michigan Amateur Qualifier in 1991 and 1996, reaching the match-play round in 1991.

He served as golf coach at Madonna High School for one season and was an assistant varsity golf coach and head junior varsity and freshman coach for boys and girls at Cranbrook-Kingswood, working for former Titan golf legend John Minnich '84.

Batcheller has worked 35 years in the information technology industry with EDS and Hewlett-Packard and is currently an Account Business Office Executive at DXC Technology Services. He is also a volunteer rules official with the Golf Association Michigan (GAM).

He graduated from the University with a degree in Communications and a minor in English in 1987. He is married to his wife Linda, a UDM master's grad in Industrial Psychology '90, and has four children, Brendan, Griffin, Ryan and Meredith.
