SAGINAW, Mich. (1/12/2024) -- Three Titans won events, another three earned runner-up accolades and a third registered a broze finish as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track team broke out some great performances before the storm hit at the Saginaw Valley State Classic on Friday.

Sophomore McKenzie McNitt was first in the 400-meters with a run of 1:00.69. Sophomore Zoe Morris won the high jump with a career-best 1.63m mark and senior Kayla Smith had the best throw in the weight with a throw of 16.40m.

Graduate senior Allison Sherman started off her indoor season with a PR and the seventh best time in Titan history in the 3,000m, placing second in 10:15.25, while sophomore Jada Clark earned second in the high jump with a leap of 1.53m.

The Titans also took second in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of junior Ashlee Lewis, sophomore Kayla Wize, freshman Gabriela Gashaj and McNitt posted a time of 4:12.27 and Wize contined her collegiate debut finishing third in the 400m in 1:01.46. 

The Titans will be back in action next Saturday as the team will compete in the EMU Invite next Saturday, Jan. 20.
