EVANSTON, Ill. (10-13-24) – The Detroit Mercy men's and women's fencing teams completed competition at the Northwestern Remenyik on Sunday afternoon at Ryan Fieldhouse.
• Freshman
Helena Linares had a solid collegiate debut, going 3-3 in pool play and 2-1 in the bracket round falling by just one point (15-14) in the round of 16 to finish 15th out of 63 competitors.
• Freshman
Sophia Baez also had a solid collegiate debut, going 4-2 in pool play and 2-1 in the bracket advancing to the round of 16 to finish 16th out of 45 competitors.
• Sophomore
Arturo Rangel went a perfect 6-0 in pool play and 2-1 in the bracket round to finish in 18th place out of 105 competitors.
• Sophomore
Nathan Mysiorek went 4-1 in pool play and 1-1 in the bracket round to finish in 18th place out of 52 competitors.
Both resume the season in 2025 at the DeCicco Duals hosted by Notre Dame on Sat.-Sun. Jan. 25-26.
