Morgan Jones rallied for a win as the Titans started play at Central Michigan's Motor City Match-Up on Monday.
The event, which had the women and men play together in a match-up format, saw the Titans fall to Oakland 8.5 to 3.5 at the par 72, 6,678-yard Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
Jones secured a point in the fifth slot as she defeated Paige Scott, 1-up. Jones took an early lead and led 2-up with five to play when OU squared it with just two holes to go. On the eighth hole, Jones was able to get back on top and then parred the ninth hole for the win.
Freshman
Emma McKinley nearly got another point as she dropped her affair, 1-up, at the fourth position. McKinley trailed by two heading into the front nine and then got one back on the first hole and tied it with a par on the fifth hole. She also tied it with a par on the eighth hole, before dropping the final one for the close setback.
Overall, Jones' 77 led the Titans, while McKinley was next in line with a 78.
On the men's side, sophomore Mason Sokolowski was the lone winner, but senior Marko Banic and sophomores David Swab and Gowtham Nalluri were able to come away with a tie.
The final match of the event will pit the red, white, and blue against Green Bay and will begin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
