DETROIT (10/15/2024) -- Sophomore
Gowtham Nalluri was a winner, and two other Titans earned ties as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team finished Central Michigan's Motor City Match-Up on Tuesday.
The event had the women and men play together in a match-up format and saw the Titans edged by Green Bay, 6.5-5.5, at the par 72, 6,678-yard Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
Nalluri trailed at No. 4 early on by two holes, but won 18, 1, 2 and 3 to go up by two. He would increase his lead to three before settling for a 2-up victory.
Sophomore
Mason Sokolowski - the lone Titan winner yesterday - had an early lead at No. 3, but ended up tying his match, while senior
Marko Banic was in a battle at No. 2 and was able to halve that affair.
On the women's side, junior Taylor Kondel and sophomore Gabriella Tapp each won, while junior Kyla Charlebois tied her match and UDM also won a contest by default for a 3.5-2.5 narrow win over the Phoenix.
The men's team will have one final event left in the fall as the Titans head to Cincinnati for the Xavier Invitational next week, Oct. 21-22.
