Titans Post Seven PRs in Season Opener at Notre Dame

Freshman Meghan Koss was second in the 200-meters.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (12/6/2024) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team opened its season with seven PRs at Notre Dame's Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday.

Freshman Meghan Koss led the way for the Titans in her collegiate debut, finishing runner-up in the 200-meters with a time of 25.05. She also placed sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.83 seconds.

Three Titans finished in the top eight of the 400m. Junior McKenzie McNitt led the way in fifth place with a time of 58.94. Senior Ashlee Lewis was sixth in 1:00.65, while freshman Audrey Williams placed seventh with a run of 1:01.13.

Senior Nina Pizzo earned seventh in the mile with a personal best time of 5:14.26 and senior Evie Wright placed fifth in the 3000m clocking 10:29.70.

Sophomore Grace Steffes led UDM in the field events with an eighth-place effort in the shot put with a career-best toss of 11.91m.

The 4x400-meter relay team of McNitt, Lewis, and sophomores Kayla Wize and Gabriela Gashaj closed the meet with a third-place finish in 4:00.98.

Detroit Mercy will return to action following the holiday break when they travel to nearby Windsor University for the Can-Am Classic on Jan. 10th-11th.
