SAGINAW, Mich. (12/7/2024) -- Three freshmen on the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team started their careers in upper Michigan at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Open.

Julia Young tallied a top-10 effort in the triple jump with a mark of 10.08-meters, while also earning 15th in the long jump with a 4.90m leap.

Jariatu Bangurah was 14th in the triple jump at 9.32m and then registered 4.69m for 17th in the high jump.

In the pole vault, Abbey Ressler cleared 2.92m for a share of 17th. 

Detroit Mercy will return to action following the holiday break when they travel to nearby Windsor University for the Can-Am Classic on Jan. 10th-11th.
