BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. (3-30-24) - Sophomore
Avery Paul's first career hit was as good as it gets as she belted her first career home run while going 2-for-3 overall as Detroit Mercy battled but came up short 5-4 in the first leg of a doubleheader at Bowling Green in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Meserve Field. The Titans also dropped the nightcap 8-0.
Freshman
Alexis Hoff was also solid at the dish going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman
Claire Borg hit 1-for-3 with an RBI while freshman
Jada Davis also went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Sophomore
Alison Donaugh added a hit-while and run with sophomore
Trinity Fessler had run with two walks.
Game 1 Recap:
• After the Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Paul connected on a solo homer to tie the game at 1-1.
• Junior
Amanda Schick hit a ground out to score Fessler followed by an RBI single from Borg to score Donaugh putting the Titans up 3-1 in the third inning.
• The Falcons drew even at 3-3 with a pair of runs off an RBI single and a throwing error in the bottom of the fourth inning.
• Hoff delivered an RBI single to score Davis giving the Titans a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning.
• UDM's defense miscues proved to be the difference as BGSU added a pair of unearned runs to seal the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Game 2 Recap:
• BGSU plated two runs in the first and second innings and one in the third to lead 5-0.
• Junior
Jaiden Lara recorded UDM's only hit of the game in the third inning
• Fessler and Paul each drew a walk but were left stranded.
• The Falcons added two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.
