Jada Davis hit her first career home run which also was the first long ball of the season for Detroit Mercy while sophomore
Jenna Holt hit a lead-off triple for the second consecutive day as the Titans battled but came up short 3-2 and 4-0 in doubleheader action on Monday evening at the Blue Raider Softball Field. Junior
Amanda Schick also had a big day going 4-for-5 overall with an RBI and a walk.
On the day, Holt hit 2-for-6 with a run while junior
Jaiden Lara went 1-for-5 with a double while sophomores
Alison Donaugh and
Elyssa Adams each had a hit.
Freshman
Claire Borg also went 1-for-3 with a walk in game one and tossed 3.0 innings allowing two runs (one unearned) off five hits with two strikeouts in game two.
Game 1 Recap:
• Holt led off with a triple and was driven in by Schick's RBI single giving UDM (0-10) a 1-0 lead. Borg then drew a walk to put runners on first and second but were left stranded.
• The Blue Raiders tied the game off a fielder's choice in the bottom of the second.
• MTSU took a 2-1 lead off an RBI single following a triple in the fourth inning.
• The Titans had a golden opportunity in the sixth inning as they got the bases loaded off singles from Borg and Schick and a walk by sophomore
Avery Paul with two outs. However, the bases were left juiced on a strikeout.
• MTSU moved ahead off a solo homer in the bottom half for a 3-1 lead.
• Davis' home run pulled the Titans within a run at 3-2 but that would be as close as they would get.
Game 2 Recap:
• MTSU took a 1-0 lead on an error in the first inning.
• Lara led off the third inning with a double but was caught stealing. Holt added a single but was left stranded.
• The Blue Raiders moved ahead 2-0 with an RBI single in the bottom half of the third.
• UDM got runners on first and second in the top of the fourth but couldn't get any across.
• MTSU added a run in the fifth and another in the sixth for a 4-0 lead.
• The Titans only got one hit in the sixth inning and were retired in order in the seventh to end the game.
Detroit Mercy travels to Tennessee State for a single game on Wednesday, Mar. 6 at 5 pm ET.
