FLORENCE, Ala. (3-9-24) -  Sophomore 
Alison Donaugh hit 1-for-3 with three RBI while sophomore 
Trinity Fessler went 3-for-5 with two runs scored as Detroit Mercy mounted a late rally scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings to come up just short losing by a run, 9-8, to Maryland Eastern Shore in nightcap action at the UNA Tournament on Friday night. The Titans lost the opening game 19-0 to Samford in the first game of the day.
The offense came alive as UDM posted a season-high eight runs on nine hits with four doubles while drawing eight walks.
Junior 
Amanda Schick posted an RBI double with a walk while sophomore 
Elyssa Adams finished 1-for-3 with a two-run double, run, and walk. 
Redshirt Freshman 
Olivia Malcolm posted her first career double along with a pair of runs scored and freshman 
Jada Davis went 1-for-3 with a double, run and walk.
Freshman 
Claire Borg was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks while sophomore 
Avery Paul had an RBI and a pair of walks as well.
Junior 
Jordan Kavanaugh picked up the loss in the circle tossing 2.2 innings with four strikeouts and four earned.
Maryland Eastern Shore Recap:
• Fessler led off the first inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, after a Davis walk, both runners advanced to second and third on another wild pitch.
• Donaugh hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Fessler. Schick then drew a walk to load the bases. Paul then drew a walk to plate Davis giving the Titans a 2-0 lead. 
• After the Hawks added a run in the bottom half of the first, Donaugh hit her second sac fly followed by an RBI double from Schick to move UDM ahead 4-1 in the top of the second.
• UMES tied the game at 4-4 with a pair of RBI singles.
• The Hawks got the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the third inning. UDM looked as if they were going to get out of the inning but a costly fielding error allowed an unearned run to score. UMES then followed with a two-run single and a two-run double to plate four more unearned runs to move ahead 9-4.
• The Titans struck back in the top of the fifth as Adams delivered her first double of the season to score Malcolm and freshman 
Alexis Hoff cutting the deficit to 9-6.
• Malcolm got things going in the top of the seventh with her first double of the season. With two outs, Fessler singled to move her over to third base. Davis then reached on an error to score Malcolm. 
• Dounaugh added an RBI single to score Fessler pulling the UDM within a run at 9-8 but the Titans couldn't plate the tying run.
Samford Recap:
• The Bulldogs posted five runs in the first inning and seven runs in the second and never looked back taking a 12-0 lead.
• For the game, the Titans drew six walks as Fessler and Borg drew two walks each while Donaugh and Hoff each had one.
• Despite the walks, the UDM lineup could not figure out Samford pitcher Karley Fuller who tossed a five-inning no-hit shutout.
Detroit Mercy concludes UNA Tournament action with a pair of games against Murray State and Southern Miss on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 1:30 pm and 6:30 pm ET.
