FLORENCE, Ala. (3-9-24) - Freshman
Alexis Hoff hit 2-for-4 overall with a two-run double as Detroit Mercy was blanked 4-0 against Murray State followed by a 10-2 setback to Southern Miss to conclude play at the UNA Tournament on Saturday.
In addition to Hoff, freshman
Jada Davis and junior
Jaiden Lara each accounted for a hit against the Racers. Junior
Jordan Kavanaugh tossed her first complete game in a Titan uniform with four strikeouts against Murray State.
Sophomores
Alison Donaugh,
Trinity Fessler, and
Elyssa Adams along with junior
Amanda Schick each had a hit against Southern Miss.
Murray State Recap:
• The Racers got an RBI single in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
• Murray State followed with an RBI double in the third and an RBI single in the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead.
• The Racers added another run in the top of the seventh.
• The Titans got two singles in the sixth inning by Hoff and Davis but couldn't get a run across.
Southern Miss Recap:
• After Southern Miss posted an unearned run in the first inning off an error, Hoff delivered a two-run double to score Schick and Donaugh in the second inning to move UDM ahead 2-1.
• Both teams were scoreless over the next two innings;
• The game got away from the Titans in the top of the fifth inning.
• Southern Miss plated a run with an RBI single. After the Titans got the second out, the Golden Eagles rallied with eight more runs on eight hits to take a commanding 10-2 lead.
• Adams got a single in the bottom half but was thrown out on a fielder's choice to end the game.
