sophomore
Trinity Fessler hit a home run and followed with a second while sophomore
Alison Donaugh's three-run homer sealed a 6-2 #HLSB win over Cleveland State in the first leg of doubleheader action on Sunday afternoon at Buysse Ballpark. The Vikings won the nightcap 12-1 to take the weekend series.
Graduate Student
Olivia Warrington picked up her second win of the season tossing her fourth complete game with a season second-best five strikeouts. After giving up a two-run home run in the second inning, Warrington shut down the Vikings, holding them scoreless over the final five innings.
Freshman
Jada Davis went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored while freshman
Claire Borg and sophomore
Elyssa Adams each recorded a hit in game one. Davis also added her first career triple in the nightcap.
Game 1 Recap:
• A majority of the game's offensive production from both teams came via the long ball for the second consecutive game.
• Fessler's first career solo shot gave UDM a 1-0 lead in the first inning
• CSU moved ahead with a two-run homer in the second inning.
• Fessler came up clutch once again, sending her second homer over the right-center field wall tying the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third.
• After Adams hit a single to open the fifth inning, Fessler drew a walk followed by a Davis single to load the bases.
• Adams was able to score on a wild pitch followed by Donaugh's clutch three-run rocket that cleared the bases and put UDM up for good at 6-2 to seal the Titans' second #HLSB win of the season.
Game 2 Recap:
• CSU posted three runs in the first and second innings and two more in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.
• UDM was down to its final out in the bottom of the fifth inning when Daivs hit a high ball to right field over the CSU right fielder's head, who seemed to have lost the ball in the sun, for her career triple to plate freshman
Molly Upton.
• The Vikings responded with four more runs in the sixth inning to close out the game.
