Jada Davis connected on her team-best third home run of the season with a three-run shot while junior
Jordan Kavanagh added her second long ball of the year with a solo homer as Detroit Mercy dropped a 14-4 decision to Tolden in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Buysse Ballpark. Freshman
Alicia Avina also recorded her first career hit.
In the circle, Kavanagh also only allowed one earned run with a strikeout. Junior
Jaiden Lara and sophomore
Jenna Holt each accounted for one of the Titans' four total hits.
Recap:
• Overall, defense proved to be the undoing for UDM as 13 of Toledo's 14 runs were unearned due to six Titan errors.
• After the Rockets posted three unearned runs in the first inning, Kavanagh's solo shot put the Titans on the board in the second inning.
• The Rockets moved ahead 5-1 in the top of the third.
• In the bottom half of the inning, Lara drew a walk followed by a single from Holt. With two outs, Davis sent a charge in the ball blasting it over the center field fence pulling the Titans within a run at 5-4
• UT added their lone earned run along with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning for a 8-3 lead.
• The Rockets then blew the game open with six unearned runs in the fifth en route to the win.
Detroit Mercy resumes #HLSB action with a series against Purdue Fort Wayne beginning on Friday, April 19 at 3 pm.
