Molly Upton secured her first career collegiate hit while sophomore
Jenna Holt added a hit as Detroit Mercy dropped a #HLSB series opener 9-0 to Purdue Fort Wayne Friday afternoon at Buysse Ballpark.

• Purdue Fort Wayne took a 1-0 lead off a home run in the top of the first inning and added a run in the second for a 2-0 advantage.
• Holt led off the game with a single up the middle and then stole second base in the bottom half of the first. Sophomore
Trinity Fessler then drew a walk to put runners on first and second but PFW pitcher Alanah Jones struck out the next three batters to get out of the jam.
• The Titans then had trouble getting a read on Jones as she was able to strike out the next nine consecutive batters (12 straight overall).
• The Dons added three runs in the fourth and a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 9-0 advantage.
• Upton got the call to pinch-hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and dropped a hit down the left-field line. However, she was left stranded as Jones retired the final three batters to close out the game.
Detroit Mercy and Purdue Fort Wayne close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20 at 12 pm and 2 pm.
