DETROIT (4-22-24) - Sophomore
Jenna Holt went 2-for-3 in game one while junior
Jordan Kavanagh hit 2-for-2 with an RBI and walk at the plate and recorded her eighth complete game in the circle with a season second-best eight strikeouts in game two as Detroit Mercy closed out its nine-game home stand with an 8-2 and 4-1 setback to Robert Morris in #HLSB makeup doubleheader action on Monday at Buysse Ballpark.
Freshman
Alexis Hoff and junior
Amanda Schick each went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the first leg of the doubleheader while sophomore
Trinity Fessler also hit 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Hoff added her second hit of the day with a RBI single in the nightcap with freshman
Jada Davis posting a double and a run scored. Sophomore
Elyssa Adams also added her eighth hit of the season.
Game 1 Recap:
• RMU took a 2-0 lead off a fielding error and a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
• The Colonials added two more runs with a pair of solo home runs in the third and a two-run single in the fourth for a 6-0 advantage.
• The Titans got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning as Fessler led off with a single.
• With two outs, freshman
Claire Borg was hit by a pitch followed by a single by Hoff to plate Fessler. Schick then hit a single to drive in Borg and advanced to second off an error which also put Hoff on third. RMU was able to get the last batter out to end the threat with the Titans trailing 6-2.
• Detroit Mercy only got a runner on base in the bottom of the fifth off a Holt single but was not able to get anything across in the sixth and seventh innings.
Game 2 Recap:
• Both teams got runners on base in the first five innings.
• UDM got on the board in the first inning as Davis doubled and advanced to third off a throwing error. Kavanagh delivered a single up the middle to score Daivs for a 1-0 Titan lead.
• The Colonials took a 2-1 lead in the second inning with a solo home run and RBI double.
• UDM got runners in scoring position in the second and fourth innings but were unable to get a run across.
• RMU added an RBI double and a sacrifice fly to plate a pair of runs to move ahead 4-1 in the fifth inning.
• RMU pitcher Jaimee Hardy entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Titans had trouble mounting any offense as she only surrendered a walk while allowing no hits over the final three innings to secure the save.
Detroit Mercy travels to Northern Kentucky for a #HLSB series beginning on Friday, April 26 at 4 pm.
