DETROIT (5/2/24) – The Detroit Mercy softball team closes out the 2024 season with a home #HLSB series against Green Bay. The Titans and Phoenix open with a single game on Friday, May 3 at noon followed by a Senior Day doubleheader on Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Buysse Ballpark.

Detroit Mercy softball outfielder
Jenna Holt was named Valeo Horizon League Softball All-Academic Team Honorable Mention as voted on by each member institution's Faculty Athletics Representative and announced by the league office on Thursday (5/2).
Holt, a sophomore from Algonac, Mich., holds a 3.95 GPA in Pre-Dentistry and is a Horizon League Honor Roll selection and two-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.

Alexis Hoff's game-winning RBI single giving Detroit Mercy a dramatic 5-4 nightcap win to earn a #HLSB doubleheader split against Northern Kentucky on Saturday at Ignatius Grein Field. The Norse took game one, 7-1. On the day, Fessler went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, two walks, and two runs scored while hitting her third home run of the season.

Claire Borg closed the door on the Norse picking up her first career win in the circle tossing 1.1 innings in relief of graduate helping the Titans to a 5-4 win at NKU (4/27). Borg also hit 1-for-3 in both games with an RBI in game two.
Fantastic Fessler:
• Fessler leads the team in hits (27), doubles (7), runs (18), walks (19), batting average (.255), slugging percentage (.425), total bases (45), in multi-hit games (5), and games started (41).
• Ranks second in home runs (3), triples (1), at-bats (106) and stolen bases (2).
• In game two of the doubleheader, she hit 1-for-2 with three RBI and two walks while coming up huge hitting a clutch two-run double to tie the game in the seventh inning sparking a 5-4 come-from-behind win against NKU (4/27).
• Overall in the DH, she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, two walks, and two runs scored while hitting her third home run of the season.

• Hit a pair of home runs against PFW (4/20) for her fourth and fifth of the season.
• Connected on her first career home run at MTSU (3/4) which was UDM's first long ball of the season. Followed with a second in the Titans' 6-2 win over CSU (4/14). Her third long ball was a three-run shot against Toledo (4/18).
• Went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored in UDM's 6-2 win over CSU (4/14).
• Recorded her first career hit against WKU (2/24).
• Posted her first career double with a run scored vs Saint Louis (2/24).

• Has recorded a hit in seven of the last eight games.
• Leads the team in triples (2), stolen bases (4), and sacrifice bunts (3)
• Ranks third in hits (19), runs (10), and average (.218), fourth in walks (8), and slugging percentage (.276), and fifth in total bases (24) and at-bats (87).
• Also ranks second on the team with three multi-hit games and has reached base in seven consecutive games.
• Went a combined 2-for-5 with a double, two runs, and a walk helping Titans to a 5-4 win and DH split at NKU (4/27).

• Donaugh ranks second on the team in slugging percentage (.342), third in home runs (2), total bases (26), and fifth in hits (18).
• She has reached base in seven consecutive games twice this season.
• Her second homer of the season was a three-run shot that sealed UDM's 6-2 win over CSU (4/14).
• Hit 2-for-3 vs EIU (2/25) and 2-for-2 at YSU (3/16).
• During the nine games over Spring Break, she hit .287 with six hits, a home run, a double, and two runs scored.

• Kavanaugh tossed her third complete game of the season which proved to be the charm as she picked up her first career win in a Detroit Mercy uniform allowing only one run on five scattered hits with a strikeout as the Titans locked down a 2-1 Metro Series win over arch-rival Oakland for the first time since the 2019 season (4/11).
• She recorded her first career complete game tossing 6.0 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts at IUPUI (4/6).
• Kavanaugh also went 3-for-7 overall with an RBI double and walk at the plate.
Shut Em' Down:
• Graduate student
Olivia Warrington is second on the team in strikeouts (55).
• She picked up her second win of the season tossing her fourth complete game with a season second-best five strikeouts in the 6-2 win over CSU (4/14). After giving up a two-run home run in the second inning, Warrington shut down the Vikings, holding them scoreless over the final five innings.
• Warrington picked her first win of the season after tossing a complete game shutout only giving up six scattered hits in 7.0 innings of work lifting UDM to a 2-0 at North Alabama (3/7).

• The Titans have come up short in one-run games on six occasions, 3-2 vs PFW (4/20), 2-1 at IUPUI twice (4/6), 5-4 at BGSU (3/30), 9-8 vs Maryland Eastern Shore (3/8) and 3-2 at MTSU (3/4).

With two outs, Lara hit a ball up the middle to break up a no-hit bid by Oakland ace pitcher Sydney Campbell.
