YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (3-21-26) - Freshman
Hannah Schlachter went 2-for-4, belting her team-best fifth home run of the season along with a double in game two as Detroit Mercy dropped an 8-0 and 10-4 #HLSB doubleheader at Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon at the YSU Softball Complex.

Natalie Babcock each accounted for one of UDM 's (7-18, 1-2 HL) four hits in the nightcap. Freshman
Savannah Schultz added an RBI while freshman
Jenna Higgins had a run and drew two walks while making a spectacular catch at the center field wall in the third inning.
Game 1 Recap:
• Schlachter posted UDM's lone hit of the game in the second inning.
• The Penguins (13-11, 2-1 HL) did most of their damage in the second inning via the long ball, hitting a solo shot, followed by two 3-run homers to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
• YSU added another run in the fourth inning off a wild pitch.
• However, the Titans couldn't get another hit off YSU pitcher Kennedy Kimball.
• Freshman
Jaycee Reams tossed 2.0 innings in relief, allowing only one run off the aforementioned wild pitch.
Game 2 Recap:
• UDM took a 3-0 lead as Higgins scored off a wild pitch, followed by Schlachter's two-run bomb in the top of the first inning.
• YSU responded in the bottom half, getting five runs off only one hit. The Penguins got a sacrifice fly followed by a bases-loaded hit by pitch. After an infield hit plated another run, a throwing error on the play went into the dugout, allowing two more unearned runs to score for a 5-3 advantage.
• Schultz posted an RBI groundout scoring sophomore
Abby Klaft, pulling the Titans within a run at 5-4 in the third inning
• Once again, the Penguins responded in the bottom half with a pair of two-run singles to increase the lead to 9-4. Higgins prevented YSU from scoring more runs with her amazing catch to end the inning.
• YSU added an RBI single in the fifth inning for a 10-4 advantage.
• UDM got a pair of runners aboard on two errors and a walk, but were left stranded in the sixth inning.
The Titans play their third Big Ten opponent of the season at Indiana on Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m.
