DETROIT (1-1-25) - Four players reached double figures, led by junior
Myonna Hooper, who poured in a game-high 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting, 3-for-6 from long range, and 6-for-8 from the free throw line as Detroit Mercy held off a late charge from IU Indy for a 67-59 win on New Year's Day at Calihan Hall. The Titans are off to a 4-0 start in #HLWBB play for the first time since the 1996-97 season and 10-2 overall for the first time in 45 years since the 1979-80 season.

Emaia O'Brien scored 14 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, while fifth-year senior
Aaliyah McQueen also added 14 points with nine rebounds. Sophomore
Makayla Jackson rounded out the double-digit scoring with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting with a career-best five steals defensively giving her nine steals over the last two games.
After the first quarter, IU Indy (2-12, 1-4 HL) took a 13-9 lead. Detroit Mercy's (10-2, 4-0 HL) came alive in the second quarter as Jackson connected on back-to-back layups, sparking a 12-5 run to take a 21-18 lead. From there, the Titans' offense kept hitting on all cylinders as they outscored IU Indy 23-7 in the frame (32-13 overall since trailing 7-0 in the first quarter) to take a 12-point lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 16 points each in the third quarter but the Jags closed out the frame on a 10-2 run to trail by 12 points, 48-36, heading into the fourth quarter.
IU Indy kept thier foot on the gas with a 12-1 spurt to open the fourth quarter, pulling within a point at 49-48 at the 6:38 mark, forcing a UDM timeout. Out of the timeout, the Titans got hot from long range as O'Brien hit a triple, followed by a bank-in 3-ball from Hooper and another 3-pointer from O'Brien to cap off a 9-0 run moving the UDM back up by 10 points at 58-48.
The Jags pulled within six points at 60-54 with 2:18 to go, but the Titans sealed the game from the free throw line down the stretch to remain a perfect 7-0 at Calihan Hall.
