DETROIT (10/2/2025) -- University of Detroit Mercy men's golf alum Mickey Jacob '81 received one of the highest honors from the University as he was presented with the Spirit of Detroit Mercy Alumni Award over Homecoming Weekend.

Jacob was a four-year letterwinner for the Titans and was named the team MVP as a junior and senior, sporting a team-best 79.06 and 79.27 average, respectively. He earned the President's Award as a senior, given to a male and female graduating senior who, during his/her tenure at Detroit Mercy, has shown academic and athletic excellence.

A longtime player in Florida architecture, Jacob's career has been forged with a commitment to create inspiring places that improve the quality of life for everyone in the community. The American Institute of Architects Florida branch honored his contributions to the field by creating the Jacob Leadership Institute to provide leadership training and support to architects.

A total of seven alumni, one from each school, was honored during Homecoming.

"These seven alumni are exactly the kind of people Detroit Mercy strives to create," said University President Donald B. Taylor, who chose the honorees. "They have made a difference in their field and have worked to better the communities in which they live. They are very special people and Detroit Mercy is proud to have them as members of the family."
