DETROIT (10/9/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's golf teams will once again team up for the good of the Titans as the red, white and blue compete in the Motor City Match-Up.
It will be a match-play, combined event featuring six men's and women's golfers to a team. The Titans will open with Green Bay on Monday, Oct. 13, and then the winner/loser will play the other draw in Chicago State -Central Michigan on Tuesday.
Both days will tee off at 10:00 a.m., at the par-72 Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan. The men's course will play at 6,631 yards, while the women's will be set at 5,897 yards, and fans can follow the action on Golf Genius.
A men's and women's combined team champion will be celebrated at the end of the event. Semifinal matches on Monday will have 12 points up for grabs, and ties count as a half point (6.5 points to win the match-up). Each group will consist of a foursome with matching male and female players, with matches (#1 male vs. #1 male and #1 female vs. #1 female).
Last season, UDM dropped both of its matches in the event to Oakland and Green Bay.
Junior
David Swab leads the men's team with a 75.00 average, while freshman
Peyton Lawley (75.67) and juniors
Gowtham Nalluri (76.22) and
Mason Sokolowski (76.44) are all within a stroke of each other through three fall events.
For the women, graduate senior
Ariel Chang led the women in the season opener with a 226, while senior
Taylor Kondel is averaging a 79.29, and junior
Gabriella Tapp is at an 80.14.
