FORT WAYNE, Ind. (3-27-25) - Sophomore
Jada Davis had a solid effort at the plate, going 5-for-8, belting her team-best second home run of the season with four RBI and a pair of runs scored as Detroit Mercy battled but came up short with a 6-5 and 9-6 setback in #HLSB doubleheader action at Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday afternoon.
Junior
Jenna Holt hit 4-for-6 with an RBI triple, two runs scored, and a walk while freshman
Natalie Babcock hit 3-for-7 with an RBI triple and a walk.
Freshman
Wendy Ketola went 3-for-6 with a walk while junior
Trinity Fessler went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and run in game two. Freshman
Madeline Hallman also posted a hit in each game.
Sophomore
Claire Borg tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in relief in game one helping Detroit Mercy's (5-16, 2-3 HL) rally from a 6-0 deficit.
Game 1 Recap:
• PFW (7-6, 3-2 HL) jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a three-run homer and a sac fly in the first inning and a two-run shot in the second inning.
• The Titans cut the lead in half at 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning off Holt's RBI triple to score Hallman followed by an RBI single from Daivs to plate Holt.
• Babcock then posted another RBI triple to score Davis.
• Davis then connected on her two-run shot in the top of the seventh with only one out. However, the Titans couldn't push the game-tying run across.
Game 2 Recap:
• UDM jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off an RBI single from Babcock to score Holt and a sac fly from freshman
Abby Klaft to plate Fessler.
• PFW responded in the bottom half with their second three-run homer of the afternoon to take a 3-2 lead.
• Davis posted an RBI single to score Hallman tying the game at 3-3 in the second inning.
• Fessler added an RBI double to score Holt, moving the Titans ahead 4-3 in the fourth inning.
• The Dons added a pair of RBI doubles in the bottom half to move ahead 6-4.
• PFW posted their third three-run homer in the sixth to seal the 9-4 win.
The series finale will be played on Friday, Mar. 28 at 4 p.m.
