DETROIT (5/7/2025) -- The real season has arrived for the Titans, and they will now compete solely against their peers as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team heads to Ohio for the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The three-day event starts on Friday, May 9, with the decathlon, heptathlon and discus at Noon, javelin at 4:00 p.m., and running events at 7:00 p.m. Saturday will begin at Noon and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., at Farmers National Bank Field at Youngstown State.
There will be live results, and all running events will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
UDM was 10th in the indoor championships with 11 points, while taking eighth in last year's outdoor event with 34 points.
Detroit Mercy has six student-athletes ranked in the top 10 in the Horizon League.
Freshman
Meghan Koss is fifth in the 100-meters with a time of 12.01.
Senior
Evie Wright ranks sixth in the 10,000m at 36:31.87, while junior
McKenzie McNitt and sophomore
Kayla Wize are ninth and 10th, respectively, in the 400m in 57.17 and 57.26.
Freshman
Lyla Mullins is ninth in the shot put (12.38m), and senior
Zoe Morris is 10th in the high jump (1.60m)
In its history, the Titans have won two titles (1999, 2000) and placed runner-up four times (2001, 2002, 2005, 2014) among its 14 top-five finishes.
Detroit Mercy has captured 57 individual titles and eight relays. Shireese Statin '00 earned eight wins - the most by a Titan - between relays and the 100 and 200m, while Brittany Horne '09 still holds the HL hammer record with a throw of 61.30m.
