Ariel Chang was back in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team concluded its fall opener, the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, on Monday.
UDM finished 13th with a 945 (314-309-322) at the par 72, 6,000-yard A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort in Kewadin, Michigan.
Chang posted her 18th career top-20 performance as she shared 20th with a 226 (74-72-80), just one shot behind her career best. She had 10 pars and two birdies in the final round. Overall, she led the team and was tied for third in the event with 37 pars, while her four birdies were the second most on the squad.
Junior
Gabriella Tapp turned in a career effort as she was tied for 36th, shooting a career-low 230 (78-74-78). She ended the tournament with the best round on the day for UDM, knocking in nine pars and two birdies.
Freshman
Sadie Kondel tied for 64th in her collegiate debut with a 242 (78-82-82), while senior
Taylor Kondel recorded a 245 (82-81-82) for a share of 69th. Sadie's six birdies led the team, while Taylor had 22 total pars.
The Titans will return to action in a few weeks as the red, white and blue compete in Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational from Sept. 21-22.
