Ava Wisinski both ended in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf finished up play at Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Monday.
Playing shorthanded, the Titans placed fifth with a 642 (318-324) at the par-72 5,992-yard Mill Creek Golf Course (North Course) in Boardman, Ohio.
Kondel posted her first career top-10 finish after tallying a 153 (78-75), just four off the top five. She began the day with a birdie and concluded with 11 pars and three birdies. She also led the team with six birdies, tied for fourth in the event, and was top 10 in par 3 (+1, 3.13) and par 4 (+6, 4.30) scoring average.
Wisinski rebounded from an opening-round 82 to shoot the best round in the tournament for the Titans with a season-best 2-over 74 to share 16th with a 156. Her final round saw her knock in 10 pars and four birdies, playing her first 11 holes at one under.
Junior
Gabriella Tapp tied for 22nd with a 159 (81-78), while sophomore
Emma McKinley (80-85) and freshman
Sadie Kondel (79-86) shared 30th with a 165. Tapp recorded four birdies on the day
As a team, UDM was second on the course's par 3's with a 3.44 average and third on the par 4's with a 4.38 mark.
Detroit Mercy will be back in action at Toledo's Rocket Classic from Oct. 6-7.
