Captain Grant Takes NEC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

Senior Kyle Grant was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (2/16/2026) -- For the second straight week, the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team came away with a conference accolade as senior captain Kyle Grant was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week.

It is the first time in his career that he has earned a weekly award, although he was First Team All-NEC last season.

Grant tallied 10 caused turnovers and seven ground balls last week. He started with four takeaways and three GB's at #18 Michigan and then tied his career-high with six caused turnovers and four more ground balls in the win at Hampton.

He is now eighth in school history with 49 caused turnovers, and third with 1.23 takeaways per game. He is also approaching 100 career ground balls, standing at 79.

Detroit Mercy will be back in action this week as they host Bellarmine on Saturday at Country Day High School and Marquette on Monday on campus.
