Mullins Extends School Record In Shot Out, Titans Tally Three Wins On Saturday

Sophomore Lyla Mullins had a big throw to win the shot put.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (4/18/2026) -- Sophomore Lyla Mullins extended her school record with a winning performance, and two other Titans were gold as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team ended Oakland's Elaine Leigh Track & Field Invitational on Saturday.

Mullins won the shot put with a heave of 15.36 meters, up from her previous mark of 14.80m.

Graduate senior Abby Winkle clocked a time of 58.21 to win the 400 meters, while freshman Nadia Hill earned a mark of 1.65m to claim the high jump.

Junior Gabriela Gashaj took a silver in the 100-meter hurdles with a run of 1:08.38, and Imani Sharp was third in the 200m in 26.45.

The foursome of Gashaj, Winkle, junior Kayla Wize, and sophomore Audrey Williams placed second in the 4x400, posting a time of 4:07.93, while Wize, Williams, Sharp, and sophomore Olivia Velazquez were third in the 4x400 in 49.74.

On day one, graduate senior Nina Pizzo registered the 10th-best run in school history in the 1,500 meters, finishing third in 4:43.35.

Detroit Mercy will have one final week of competition, taking a group of competitors to the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open next week.
