2012-13: Recorded two wins at the UDM Invitational (1/12)... Both wins came against Oakland in team's 15-12 overall win.

2011-12: First collegiate win in men's foil came against Xavier at the UDM Invitational (Jan. 15)... Started off fencing with foil weapon and ended with the sabre... Finished with 16 combined wins on the season... Finished 72nd in sabre at the MFC Championships at Notre Dame (March 4).

Prior to Detroit: Earned three letters for cross country and track and field at Gabriel Richard... Set cross country personal record of 18:05 in 5k race.

Personal: Son of Marlene and Steven Nelson... Born in Dearborn... Older brother Tim graduated in May 2011 from Detroit and was a two-year epee fencer at Detroit... Mother Marlene also attended UDM... Enjoys watching TV, playing video games, surfing the internet and playing the piano... Was also part of theatre and varsity band in high school... Biggest thrill in sports come from being able to push yourself beyond your limits... Major is software engineering.
