The Titan women's tennis team opened play at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing on Saturday and senior Kelly Davis stood out for Detroit on Day 1, winning a pair of singles matches. 

Davis bested Gabrielle Duncan of Louisville, and also topped Ashley Stockwell of Michigan State. Both matches were in No. 7 singles on the first day of the two-day event.

Davis posted UDM's lone victory against Louisville, but Annie Moore and Erin Weldon forced their matches to three sets at No. 2 and 6 singles, respectively.

Play resumes on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. In addition to Detroit, Louisville and host Michigan State, the field includes Marshall, Akron, Bowling Green, Cleveland State and Toledo.
