Senior Aneta Maricevic (Hamilton, ONT/Glendale Secondary) and sophomore Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) were both two-time winners on the Titans' final day of action at the 2008 Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State. 

The Maricevic/Weldon duo split their morning doubles matches at the #3 post, scoring an 8-6 win over Cleveland State's Pepino/Drake before coming up short by a score of 8-4 versus their counterparts from Marshall. Both netters finished up the day with afternoon singles victories at the #4 and #6 positions against Akron.

Perhaps the day's most exciting triumph, though, for the Red and White came in doubles action against Marshall. The Thundering Herd had scored wins at the #2 and #3 doubles slots, but UDM came from behind in the #1 match, where seniors Annie Moore (St.Clair, MI/St.Clair) and Zeljka Minic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sport) posted a hard fought 9-7 upset over Marshall's top team of Kellner/Soor.

Detroit returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Titans participate in the IPFW Fall Invitational.
