Tolomei & Troy Earn Lone Titan Win At Michigan State

The Detroit Titans men's tennis team opened the 2009 dual campaign with a 7-0 setback to Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday.

Junior Patrick Troy (Beverly Hills, MI/Brother Rice) and freshman Nick Tolomei (Rochester Hills, MI/Adams) took home the only victory of the day with an 8-7 (8-6) win at the No. 3 doubles position.

The Titans dropped all six singles matches, including a heartbreaker at the No. 1 slot, where junior Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) fell 8-6, 7-5 (10-4) to MSU senior John Allare.

The Titan netters will now head to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan on Sunday, Jan. 18.
