In a see-saw battle that went down to the final singles match, the Titans just missed capturing a big win over Eastern Michigan as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Eagles in Ypsilanti on Saturday evening.
Detroit (1-2) opened the battle by taking two of three doubles victories to grab the first point of the night.
Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) picked up a win at No. 6 singles, but the Titans still found themselves down 3-2 with two matches left to go. Freshman
Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelunds Gymnasiet) knotted the score with a straight-set win at No. 5, leaving the matche tied at three and all eyes on one court.
There, however, EMU's Karina Ahuja outdueled the Titans' Zeljka Minic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sport) to claim a 7-6, 7-5, win, giving the Eagles (2-2) the narrow victory over the Titans.
UDM will be back in action on Friday at Michigan State.
