Titans Down Lehigh for Second Consecutive Win

Box Score

Led by a solid defense and timely hitting, the Detroit Titans softball team notched its second straight win with a 3-1 victory over Lehigh Monday afternoon at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, FL.

Detroit (2-6) was able to hold Lehigh to only one run on nine hits while bringing three runs across the plate on five hits.

Junior Jill Perry (Ortonville, MI/Brandon) picked up her first win of the season going the distance pitching seven innings with one earned run and three walks.

Junior Kristin Sclater (Taylor, MI/Kennedy) led the Titans going 1-for-2 with two RBI while sophomore Breana Sesoko (Anaheim Hills, CA / Canyon) accounted for the other RBI going 1-for-3. Junior Erica Houthoofd (Unionville, MI/Sebewaing Area) and sophomore Ellen Sinclair (Chatham, ON/Chatham-Kent) each added a hit and scored all three runs while junior Courtney Gill (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott) went 1-for 2 to round out the Titans' offensive production.

UDM took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Houthoofd drew a walk and was moved to third on a Gill single before being driven home by a RBI single from Sesoko.

In the second inning, Lehigh tied the game at 1-1 on an infield single.

The Titans got a little breathing room with a run in the fourth inning as Sinclair drew a lead-off walk and was plated by a RBI triple by Sclater.

UDM then added an insurance run for a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Houthoofd once again got things going with a lead-off double followed by a single from Sinclair. Gill was then intentionally walked to load the bases with Sinclair making the Mountain Hawks pay for the gamble with a sacrifice fly to bring home Houthoofd.

The Titans will take on Fairfield later today at 5 p.m.
