Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) moved to 4-0 in Horizon League play as the senior netter won his match at No. 1 singles, though the Detroit men's tennis team fell to Butler, 6-1, on Friday night at the Franklin Athletic Center in Southfield.
Necajevs won his sixth straight match defeating Ben Raynauld 6-2, 1-0 before Raynauld retired due to injury. With the victory, Necajevs moved to 21-4 in singles play on the season.
The Titans (5-8, 1-3 HL) battled the Bulldogs (7-10, 2-0 HL) all night long and had chance to draw even closer as the red, white and blue lost two singles matches in third set tiebreakers as well as two close matches in doubles. At No. 3, junior

In doubles, the freshmen tandem of
Gino McCathney (Livonia, MI/Stevenson) and
David Stabley (Utica, MI/Eisenhower) suffered a 9-8 (3) setback in the No. 2 position, while Troy and Tolomei were downed, 8-6, at No. 3.
The men return to action on Sunday when UDM makes the trip to Cleveland to take on the Vikings of Cleveland State.
