Titans Earn Two Personal Records In Final Day Of Raleigh Relays

Final Results

The Titans closed out the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays with two personal records on Saturday at the Paul Derr Track on the campus of North Carolina State University.

Senior Terricita Thomas (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) was one of the Titans with a career day taking 48th in Section II of the 1500 meters in 5:02.18.

The Titan throwers claimed two top 20 spots in the hammer as senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) was sixth with a toss of 49.46m/162'3", while senior Danielle Poulin (Sterling Heights, MI/Warren Cousino) was 17th with a career best throw of 45.25/148'5".

Freshman Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) was 25th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.67m/35'0.25".

The Titan relays also posted some strong times as the 4x100m of seniors Tiffany James (Westland, MI/Wayne Memorial) and Ashley Schinske (Paw Paw, MI/Paw Paw), sophomore Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) and Kalkstein finished in 49.90. The same Titan quartet also took 22nd in the 4x200 in 1:45.46, while the 4x800, run by seniors Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North), Chanteenel McClendon (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights), sophomore Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON/St. Theresa Catholic)and Thomas placed 18th in 9:38.08.

Detroit returns to action on Friday as the Titans host the Detroit Track & Field Classic at Titan Field. Among the events on the schedule is the Elite Mile, presented by RunMichigan.com, which will feature 2008 Canadian Olympian Nate Brannen taking part in the race.
