The UDM women's track and field team made it four straight over in-state rival Oakland as the Titans cruised past the Golden Grizzlies, 105-63, on Thursday afternoon at the Fourth Annual UDM-OU Dual.

“We did a good competing all day,” said head coach Guy Murray. “It was great to get more people really involved picking up some nice wins.”

Senior Tiffany James (Westland, MI / Wayne Memorial) had the only record on the day for the women winning the 200m in 26.13, setting a new Titan Field and meet standard in the process. James also finished second in the 100m in 12.53.

“Tiffany had a tough loss in the 100m, but really bounced back with a nice win in the 200m setting the meet and stadium record,” said Murray.

The women went 1-2 in three running events starting in the 400m as sophomore Sequoyia Calhoun's (Belleville, MI / Belleville) 58.60 edged out Titan junior teammate Megan Miller's (Zanesville, OH / Zanesville) 58.89.

Freshman Stephanie Rossman (Caledonia, MI / Caledonia) won the 3000m in 11:11.64, while sophomore Kristie Ferrans (Carleton, MI / Monroe) was second in 11:15.99. Sophomore Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON / St. Theresa Catholic) took first in the 400mH with a time of 1:07.99 finishing just ahead of junior Katie Taylor's (Emmett, MI / Yale) 1:08.24.

Senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI / Okemos) won all three throwing events with a 13.16m career best toss in the shot put, and two meet records with a 50.21m tally in the hammer and 39.10m throw in the discus.

“A good day for Brittany as she continues to throw well and gain consistency,” added Murray.

The final victory on the day was by the 4x400m squad composed of Mooney, McClendon and seniors Terricita Thomas (Maple Heights, OH / Maple Heights) and Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI / Grosse Pointe North) that claimed first with a time of 4:09.92.

The dual featured a special Tommy Titans vs. the kid's 100m race with youngster Brandon Cooper crossing the finish line first in 16.57. Six Titan seniors were also honored as DeFauw, James, McClendon, Thomas, Beata Gorzynska and Danielle Poulin participated in their last home event for UDM.

The Titans will be back in action this weekend as a small UDM squad will compete in the EMU Twilight on Friday and Saturday.
