The UDM women's tennis team battled all day, but it was the 10-time defending Horizon League champion UIC who came out on top as the Flames downed the Titan, 7-0, on Saturday at Flames Courts.

Detroit came out sluggish and dug a hole by losing the doubles point, as the Flames swept all three doubles matches. UDM had won the doubles point in 11 straight matches, a streak that ended on Saturday in Chicago.

Three Titans took their UIC opponents to a full three sets, but victory was not in the cards for Detroit as senior Zeljka Minic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sport), junior Svetana Flankova (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary 21), and freshman Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelunds Gymnasiet) all came up short at #2, #4 and #5.

Detroit will wrap up the regular season tomorrow when the red, white and blue head to Valparaiso, IN, to face the Crusaders.
