Junior Courtney Gill (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott) led the way for Detroit going 4-for-5 on the day with a team high four RBI coupled with three runs and a home run for a staggering 1.400 slugging percentage. Detroit added a run on an YSU error in the fourth inning followed by two runs in the fifth on RBI singles from Houthoofd and Sinclair to go up 11-0. The Penguins added two runs in the bottom of the frame but it was not enough as game ended due to the run mercy rule.
