The UDM women's tennis team made quick work of Milwaukee as the Titans moved into the semi-finals of the Horizon League Tournament on Saturday morning.
Detroit earned a 4-0 win over the Panthers after taking the doubles point with wins by junior
Svetana Flankova (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary 21) and freshman
Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelunds Gymnasiet) at No. 2 (8-5), while senior
Aneta Maricevic (Hamilton, ONT/Glendale Secondary) and sophomore
Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) won their match at No. 3, 8-4.
The red, white and blue then clinched the match with three singles victories at No. 1, 2 and 6 as seniors
Annie Moore (St.Clair, MI/St.Clair) and
Zeljka Minic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sport) cruised to 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 wins, respectively, while Weldon posted a 6-2, 7-5 tally.
The third-seeded Titans will now face No. 2 Butler at 2 p.m., for the right to move into the Horizon League Championship match.
