Day Three Results
Paced by a number of career runs on the day, the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team closed out its last meet before the Horizon League Championships on Saturday at the 43rd Annual Hillsdale Gina Relays.
Sophomore
Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) turned in two of the best Titan performances on the day placing seventh in the 400m in 57.49m, the second best run in Titan history, as well as taking 25th in the 200m in a career-best time of 26.01
Senior
Tiffany James (Westland, MI/Wayne Memorial) was 13th in the 200m in a season best 25.42, while freshman
Kiana Sledge (Dearborn, MI/Robichaud) earned a personal record with a run of 26.74 for 39th in the event.
Senior
Terricita Thomas (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) earned a big PR with a time of 2:18.61 to finish 17th in the 800m, moving her to No. 6 on the all-time school list.
Another solid mark came from freshman
Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) who took 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.63m/34'10”50.
The 4x100m squad of Calhoun, James, Kalkstein and senior
Ashley Schinske (Paw Paw, MI/Paw Paw) posted a time of 49.77 for sixth, while the 4x400m team of Kalkstein, Thomas, and seniors
Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North) and
Chanteenel McClendon (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) finished eighth in 4:00.56.
Detroit will now head to Lisle, IL and Benedictine University to compete in the Horizon League Championships. The three-day event kicks off on Friday.
